The New CandleSmith

A Legacy of Light

For more than 40 years, CandleSmith was shaped by the artistry and dedication of Susan Bradley. From the bustling streets of San Francisco to the charm of St. Augustine, Florida, and finally to her workshop on historic Fleming Island, Susan devoted her life to perfecting the rare craft of authentic bayberry candles—candles long cherished as symbols of good fortune and prosperity.

After decades of pouring her heart into this work, Susan created her final season of bayberry candles in Christmas 2024 and has now retired. Before closing her vats down, she chose to pass on everything she knows—the recipes, the methods, the little details that made CandleSmith's real bayberry wax candles unlike any others—to me, Lorien. With her blessing, both the CandleSmith company and its historical tradition of bayberry and beeswax candles have now become part of the Sacred Wick Candle & Incense Factory, a proud part of the Sacred family of businesses.

As a CandleSmith customer for over 15 years, I have long admired the extraordinary quality of Susan’s work. It is an honor to carry her legacy forward. Every bayberry and beeswax candle I create is made with the same ingredients, method, care, and devotion Susan poured into her craft, so the blessings these candles bring may continue to light your home and traditions, year after year.

CandleSmith is more than a business—it is a heritage of light, prosperity, and connection. As the new steward of this tradition, I look forward to sharing that legacy with you, one handmade candle at a time, crafted with love at the Sacred Wick Candle & Incense Factory in Napa Valley, California.
